DRIVE to LIVE

Thank you to all my friends and family, because I consider you all part of this huge family I have found. From the bottom of my heart I have not felt more loved than now with all of your support and continued prayers. Today, I received some news that I will admit brought my spirits down for part of the day. I am not in remission and will be undergoing more chemotherapy treatment from what I have heard the options are. I will have more details for all of you tomorrow once I speak to my Dr. I was distraught when I heard the news and nearly heartbroken, sometimes I am amazed that I still have tears left to shed sometimes, but I guess that is just a reminder that I am human and still ALIVE. I NEED to BELIEVE that there is a particular chemotherapy drug out there that will knock this monster out of me and bring me to remission so I can move to my transplant. I can only Pray that GOD will guide my Drs. or take me to the place where this is possible. In a couple of months I will be 30 and never in my wildest nightmares did I ever think I would be battling THE BIG C at this age. I never thought this would happen to me.

SO...I ask that all of you, dont take LIFE for granted, don't take the simple things in life for granted, and don't even take the bad things for granted, because the bottom line is it could always be worse. Today, at 29 years old, I sit here and look at my life and I have so much more left to do and that I WILL DO...but I appreciate every day and I have realized all the BLESSINGS I have in my life. I have the Best Parents and I mean the BEST, no offense to anyone's parents LOL...but mine are kick ass!!! Next is my Sister, she is my ROCK and part of my STRENGTH...She's a tough cookie but has a heart of gold and I am SOOOOO Lucky that GOD sent her to me...With her by my side I feel like anything is possible. Then there is the rest of my family, which are incredible as well. My true friends who have stuck by me through all of this journey..you know who you are...then are those who I have met along the way of this journey, whether they have been friends on facebook, my doctor, nurses, hospital staff, they truly make each day of this fight a little easier for me. SO thank you....and Thank you God for Blessing me with such amazing people in my life. I appreciate them all in their very own special way, they keep me going strong every day!!!!

I will continue to say I have CANCER but CANCER does not have me. As long as I can fight, I will continue to FIGHT like the WARRIOR I know I am!!! If others have fought and surpassed this then why the heck can't I. There is no ROOM for FAILURE here it is not an OPTION in my LIFE!!! I am a WINNER!!! and so help me GOD, but I WILL BEAT THIS!!!

I will keep you all updated.

God Bless!!!

Update: Great News

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give you an update from my last Dr. visit on Friday. The Dr. informed me that...are you sitting down, because thank God I was..lol " I AM IN REMISSION". Yes, you read right, I am in remission and this means that I am on step closer to my transplant. Now it makes things so much easier for me. NOW,  I just need a DONOR asap. So it is so much more important for everyone to Register and Donate. This will not only help me but others in my situation. I guarantee they will be just as grateful as I am. Please don't forget to register at www.marrow.org. Registration is free and they mail you the kit to the comfort of your own home.

Also, for those of you who would like to donate, please do so to paypal address lizquesada.leukemia@gmail.com. Transplant expenses are extremely costly, specially that I will be having mine done at a hospital 4 hours away from my home town. This would help pay for medical expenses my insurance does not cover, housing expenses, food, gas, and medications. Please help, but most importantly, please register to donate.

TY and I will keep you updated.

Some Good News, while others Frustrating!!!

Today has been a good day, so far! Channel 7 has agreed to run my story on the news to get more people to donate marrow. I am so blessed! This is a true blessing getting my story out there.  Stay tuned for tonight on Channel 7 at 5:30 to 7:00!

Now only problem is with my medicaid! Ugh! How do they only give chemotherapy patients 45 days of inpatient hospital services, when many times we are more than 30 days in the hospital at ones. This makes no sense and there is something wrong with Florida Health Care. I am now not only fighting both my Leukemia's but apparently Fighting Florida Medicaid..Great another one to add to the opponents list. Hopefully, I can get through on the 866 number and I can get someones voice other than the recording saying " All Representatives are busy at the moment, please try again later:...then you here click....yup...They hang up on you. As I write to all of you I am calling DCF to deal with this medicaid issue, this is ridiculous there they go again, hanging up on me!!! UGH! So Frustrating...don't know what else to do!
I will keep you all posted on this.

On a lighter note, tomorrow I have an appt. in Tampa. I hope all goes well there, basically its to run some more exams and brush up on where we stand as to my soon to be chemotherapy session again. Which I so very hate as being in the hospital is not pleasant...We shall see, lets keep those prayers coming and don't forget to tell your friends, family, co-workers to register at www.marrow.org, only a few more days until it's free to register!!!

My Story - In need of a Bone Marrow Transplant

Quote of the Day!

"We don't know how strong we are until being strong is the only choice we have."

Donate Marrow and Help Save a Life, Possibly Mine!

I am currently looking for a Bone Marrow Donor. Being Hispanic makes me a minority and my chances of finding an exact match is difficult. If more of the Hispanic population would register to donate, it could help me find a DONOR and save my life. It will only take a minute of your time and once you register they will mail you a kit home, you swab some saliva, and then mail back. If you are an exact match you will need to donate blood to save a life. It is as easy as that." -Elizabeth Quesada ~ Please help and register at www.marrow.org (feel free to re-post)
